Green Policy

Heritage Properties & Hotels Ltd is committed to green initiatives that help protect the environment around us. We have formed a committee to ensure that all policy aims are met, and that the standards set out in this document are adhered to. These include monitoring and reducing consumption of energy levels, implementing environmental policies that reduce costs, and efforts to offset the carbon footprint of our guests.

Heritage Properties & Hotels commits to the following:

  • All business decisions will take into account environmental factors and the outcome that those decisions may have.
  • Continuous effort is made to reduce our energy and the production of waste from the business.
  • We encourage suppliers to have their own environmental policy and take this into account when selecting the suppliers that we work with.
  • We will continue to plant a variety of trees within our grounds to help offset the carbon footprint.

Recycling & Waste

  • Mixed recycling collections are now in place at each of our properties.
  • We recycle the cooking oil from all kitchens through local contractors.
  • We purchase all our copier and printer paper from sustainable sources.

Energy Saving

  • Low energy LED lighting is used where possible.
  • Timing clocks and lighting sensors have been installed where possible.

Local Environment

  • We aim to support a variety of wildlife throughout the grounds of the Newbury Manor Hotel due to its nine acres of woodland and rivers. We currently have two Heron, Deer, Quail, an Otter. Kingfisher and are looking to introduce more animals through Animal Rescue.
  • In order to offset the carbon footprint of both ourselves and our guests we are currently planting a wide variety of young trees within the grounds of the Newbury Manor Hotel and the Crab at Chieveley. The Park House Hotel has also joined up with AllianceCO2.com who are aiming to plant 650 trees a year through donations from the hotel itself and conscientious guests. Their website is available for viewing at www.allianceCO2.com.

Between the Crab at Chieveley and the Newbury Manor Hotel we have a combined area in excess of ten acres within which to grow a variety of herbs, fruit and vegetables for use within our own kitchens. This helps keep our produce seasonal and helps keep our carbon footprint to a minimum. Each restaurant in the group ensures that the menu focuses heavily on local produce.
